Change your point of viewThe value of this books lies in the author's frequent assertion that you are not 'avoiding taxes' or 'cheating the IRS'... because there are PLENTY of tax breaks written into the tax code that are legal and only have to be asked for; so ask! Many are best used by small businesses which are incorporated, but others apply to everyone. He has many travel deduction strategies which make most of a trip deductible.
Fun, wicked book about how to legally reduce your taxes!I read the parts of this book that related to me...mutual funds, etc. Then I browsed through other parts. The examples make each point clear and are often humorous. There are lots of ways to keep taxes much lower through planning ahead of time. This book makes it fun to make those plans.

10 Tax Questions the Candidates Don't Want You to Ask
Published in Paperback by John O. Fox (March, 2004)
Amazon base price: $11.95
Average review score:

On TargetAttorney, professor and commentator John O Fox has spent the better part of his professional life wrestling with the US Tax Code and knows whereof he speaks. In the spirit of pamphleteer Tom Paine, he talks common sense to his readers in 50-odd pages: 10 Tax Questions the Candidates Don't Want You to Ask is a provocative and lively adddition to Fox's growing body of work. Written for the interested layman,it is accessible and brisk and repays your investment handsomly. Would that the candidates would address tax issues as clearly as Fox does.
Real Questions Represent Real InterestsJohn Fox has it right! His "Ten Questions" represent the real interests of Americans -- from mortgages, home equity and property to health, childcare, social security and retirement. American have the right to expect better answers from elected officials about tax issues -- not just the usual boiler plate about tax cuts. This small volume frames the debate that should take place during this election year.
John Fox should write U.S. tax lawClear, incisive and entertaining, this is a book about an ordinarily mind-numbing subject, taxes, that's actually a page-turner. Headings make the issues covered even easier to understand and I didn't know tax law could have a heart until I read this book. John O. Fox should be writing U.S. tax law, not just writing about it. Exciting ideas!I enjoyed this book for its readability and refreshing ideas. Mr. Brown tackles the mundane and unexciting subject of tax reform with humor and well-researched concepts. Each chapter begins with a quip from a noted historic figure; for example, Albert Einstein, or Mark Twain, and gives a thoughtful refresher course on the peculiarities and perplexing myths of the American income tax system. His facts and figures look accurate enough, though difficult to prove, but certainly will give the reader food for thought, and a new perspective on dealing with the future of "taxation without representation". A great afternoon read!

Can you use the internet? If you can use the internet, you do not need this book. There are no "big secrets" or earth-shaking revelations here. The information presented in this book is free to anyone who can do an internet search on whatever subject they are interested in. The only thing I learned from this book is how to compile readily available information and sell it for a profit. SAVE YOUR MONEY!
Useful bookAll of those useful little tidbits of information people always end up learning the hard way are in this book. There is almost too much useful consumer information in here. I am sure this book will save me a huge amount of trouble later in life. If you've ever wanted a book that could instill years of knowledge and experience to help you out with all sorts of monetary concerns, this is the book for you.
It is filled with many benefits and future savings.I was impressed with the sheer volume and accuracy of the information contained in this book. It is filled with many benefits, and the future savings in dollars is just amazing.

The Best Tax Advise They Never Give YouThey have missed the point. When asked by the IRS to conduct an audit of your return, the very best thing to say is, "Is it mandatory or voluntary for me to let you see my private books and records?" Just watch, they will never answer - because it's VOLUNTARY! The courts have said so! It HAS TO BE voluntary, otherwise it would be a violation of your 4th and 5th amendment rights! You NEVER have to let the IRS see your records - even if they send you a summons, all you do is show up and claim the 5th each time they ask a question, or to see a document!! The book never tell you this!! So it is ultimately not helpful.
What Happened to the Bill of Rights? If you want to protect yourself against the IRS, you should start by asking why you need the protection to begin with. Books like this are all about trying to "play the game" as shrewedly as you can. This is absurd, since you're playing odds as much as you are playing the game. the IRS doesn't care about you or the Constitution, it cares about quotas and scaring you into submission.
Freedom is your birthright as an American. SEIZE IT! Read "Freedom in Chains" by James Bovard and "Your Money or your Life" by Sheldon Richman and "Why we mustAbolish the income tax" by Nelson Hultberg. These books point the way to freedom rather than more pointless submission.
This easy-to-read and hard-to-put-down book is a must for investment adivsors and tax preparers alike. It belongs on your professional reading list. Overall, an outstanding value.
