I love this book! It's so easy (and fun) to read. It's got chapters for buying new products as well as buying "Secondhand Rose" stuff at auctions and estate sales and a very detailed index, perfect for looking up an area I want to concentrate on. I just looked up holiday gifts and found some terrific ideas for bargain buying now, instead of waiting until December. This book is full of practical information on how to make your money go further while having fun at the same time.

A excellent primer on getting great deals on all kinds of products, from clothing to computers to cars. Besides the great advice (which really does work!), the book is a fun read, with lots of tip boxes and sidebars that share the authors' own experiences.

Collaboratively written by Art Beroff (a professional investment banker and member of the Small Business Administration National Advisory Council), with the collaborative assistance of Rob Adams and Terry Adams (real estate development and property management experts who buy distressed properties and then remodels and furnishes them for a profit), The Bargain Hunter's & Smart Consumer's Field Guide is a solid and accessibly presented money-saving guide to getting discounts when shopping or utilizing service providers; using the Internet for finding bargain prices; negotiate like a professional over real estate; and much, much more. The text is comprised of motivational, down-to-earth language, showcasing accessible and practical strategies for getting the best possible deal, while avoiding scams. The Bargain Hunter's & Smart Consumer's Field Guide is a thoroughly "user friendly" how-to guide that will literally pay for itself over and over again.

After reading this book, I went out that day and made $50,000 buying stocks, bonds and real estate. However, I blew it all the next day investing in rare coins and beanie babies. Maybe I should stick to CDs and money market funds.

Easy come, easy go.

This book, useful for both the novice and the more advanced investor, provides a thorough overview of almost every type of investment (including bonds, annuities, life insurance, etc.) and an comprehensive glossary of investment terms. It is handy when it comes to looking up unfamiliar terms and is an enjoyable overall read. The book also contains a listing of brokerages, banks, etc. with phone numbers and addresses. It is probably the authoritative volume on investing, which is to be expected coming from Barron's. It's definitely well worth it!

Being a beginner of an investing guy, this book is very useful for reading any article about economics, investment and finance. You can look up all the specil terms in this one. A perfect handbook!

She has a lot of good ideas but I was very disappointed in the size of the book for the price. It is the fastest book I have ever read. You could thumb through it at the bookstore and get all you need out it without buying it!

Wood has a few good pointers here. However, if you have a good deal of common sense and you've been on eBay for a while, you'll come to the same conclusions. She did bring to light a few ideas about where to find stuff to sale; there again, nothing ground-breaking. This is a great book if you are afraid of testing the waters, and you want to feel better about your venture. I would have liked to hear the author's take on how she sells on eBay: her approach, how she determines where to start the opening bid, tips on how to make listings successful, and her eBay ID would be good to know to compare techniques. In other words, I wanted more nitty-gritty.

Bargins to Bucks by Kathy L. Wood was given to me by a friend. I thought Ms. Wood did a good job in putting this book together. Very user-friendly and she offers a lot of good ideas. Nice Job!
