Head in the clouds?
Anyone who believes that reading this little book is the secret to wealth & happiness is probably so busy trying to find the end of that rainbow that they miss Ed McMahon when he comes to the door with your check. Chant away you freaks - the key to financial 'abundance' is not picking the right lottery numbers (although that would kinda work too) but in choosing the right career path, ie: a job that you actually have an interest and talent in, and finding a way to make it work for you. As my Dad always said, nothing in life is free. So please, people, put your feet on the ground, stop reaching for the stars, and take this long-distance dedication to heart - find what you're good at, be happy with your choice, put in the leg-work, and eventually abundance will find you. As for this little book, the only person to whom it brought abundance was the author.

Excellent. Insightful.
If you are (a) really stuck financially, and (b) open to new insights, particularly about the relationship between Spirit and Supply, this book is for you. Another reviewer noted, "Don't be fooled by its small size." Indeed...At the book's core is the 40 Day Abundance Plan. The Plan works. However, it requires discipline -- which, unfortunately, many lack. The is not about some imaginary Free Lunch in the Sky. This is about developing Abundance in one's life by developing spiritually. It must be followed fully with attention to detail, with care...One of the side benefits of following the Plan is an increase in abundance of joy. Spend the money (modest). Buy the book. Follow the Plan. Blessings.

One of the Best Tools for Revising Your Beliefs About Money
Have you ever felt like you wouldn't have so many money issues if only you could get out of your own way? More precisely, have you noticed that possibly it's your core beliefs about money that set you up for feeling the presence or absence of it in your life? If so, you're fully primed for THE ABUNDANCE BOOK.

This book is perfect for anyone who is willing to consider the possibility that God (or divine spirit) exists fully and completely within each and every one of us, and that there is an innate energy of total prosperity implicit in this fact. In other words, we are divine beings who deserve to live prosperous, creative, inspired lives! If you can accept this premise into your core beliefs, and devote 15 minutes of each day for 40 days to writing down one of ten daily affirmations, you will have completed the John Randolph Price's Prosperity Plan.

This purse-sized book will give you everything you need to help you find the flow of money in your life, provided (1) you are willing to accept the basic premise that divine spirit is the source of money and resides within you, and (2) you are disciplined enough to spend 15 minutes each day meditating on the daily affirmations.

What I love most about working with this book and it's 40 day prosperity plan is that I noticed beliefs changing inside me that I didn't even know I had, until I started this program! I love the way this book stays so positively focused on the desired outcome that it blows away any inner critic or negativity. It's awesome!

Not exactly what I expected, but helpful
Half of this book deals with the technology of organizing your own business. While that would have been very helpful in 1994, it is outdated now. If you are new to technology you may still find some good advice in those sections dealing with computer hardware, software (desktop, information management, and accounting). I just skimmed those sections to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

The other half deals with the organization and structure of accounting. I found the first chapter on getting organized particularly helpful. There is also a chapter on dealing with the IRS as a self-employed individual. The remaining few chapters address accounting and bookkeeping.

The accounting information is very good for anyone who knows very little about accounting. However, I found the same level of detail and instruction at the Small Business Administration website. I was hoping to find a little bit more of a how-to guide to setting up my business' accounting structure.

This book is an overview of all the recordkeeping issues that a self-employed person should be concerned with. However, it just didn't give me enough detail to feel secure that I was making the right decisions for my particular type of business. I just may have to use an accountant or tax attorney to get that.

I checked this book out from the library, but I wouldn't purchase it. It just doesn't have the longevity of advice that a true reference book would offer.

Clarifies accounting the way wheat is separated from chaff
Written for business people who want to be accounting and computerized accounting systems literate. No longer does one have to be in awe of the professionals who spout jargon and keep the business person dependent on their supposed expertise. This book represents liberation for the formerly fiscally challenged.

It makes accounting understandable and business easy!
Mr. Fox has a great understanding of the profession and was able to make good sense of a subject that is hard to understand.

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day was first published in 1972, catapulting a lovable, if peevish, young hero into the world of children's literature. Since then, Judith Viorst--mother of three boys, one of whom is named Alexander--has created two more Alexander books, Alexander, Who Used to Be Rich Last Sunday and Alexander, Who's Not (Do You Hear Me? I Mean It!) Going to Move.

This wonderful Alexander-fest features the complete tales, illustrated by Ray Cruz and Robin Preiss Glasser, much to the delight of fans who want to introduce Alexander to the uninitiated. Viorst says that she has been writing always--"or at least since I was seven or eight, when I composed an ode to my dead parents, both of whom were alive and well and, when they read my poem, extremely annoyed." If you've ever gone to sleep with gum in your mouth or dropped your sweater in the sink while the water was running, you'll be able to relate to Alexander, and so will your favorite kids. (Ages 4 to 8)

Alexander loves Alexander
Okay, I'll admit it. It's cool to see the look on Alex's face when he gets books that have his name in them. And this was definitely a winner. We'd checked out 'the horrible, terrible, no-good, very bad day', so I knew he'd like this one. Of course when we read it together he reads what Alexander says. It's pretty cool.

Who hasn't had a "terrible, horrible no good very bad day"
I grew up just loving Alexander in Alexander and the Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day. My mother read it to us a children (ok, so now you know I'm not too old!) and I was just thrilled to see such a good copy of not only it but the other Alexander stories as well. The library binding is very nice and this book will definitly be a keepsake for my children someday. If you like to have books to pass on, this one's for you!

Absolutely Positively Alexander - Fantastic!
My son's name is Alexander (goes by Alex). I gave this to him as a birthday gift and we have read it over and over many times. The three short stories are just the right length for a bedtime story. This book has humor and the boy, Alexander, is one boy that all children can relate too. The illustrations are great too! I highly recommend this for any child.

Essential Tools and Attitudes for Small Businesses
An excellent source of ideas and facts about the illegal ways that a small business (or a large one really) can lose money through theft and other unanticipated mechanisms (loss) and how to prevent them.

Funny to, keeps your interest.

Perfect Loss Prevention Book!
All I needed to read in this excellent book was Chapter One. The author is right, ideal loss prevention is all in the Mindset. The tone is set from the first page on that loss in a business just isn't acceptable. That's a winning attitude if ever there was one. If you have Mr. Copeland's mindset, you can accomplish all the great profit-protecting ideas he presents in all the remaining chapters.

This is a sensible book, with common sense throughout its sixteen chapters. We're not taught business common sense anymore it seems, so this book is indeed refreshing.

After the Mindset, I was especially impressed with the cash protection chapter, and then all the remaining information that I'm using to protect my assets today. It works!

We're practicing absolutely zero loss in my business every day now, and we're all the better for it. This book is mandatory reading for my employees. Fine book.

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!
My first reaction was,"how can I possibly achieve that goal?" One chapter into this book and I understood that not only could I get there, but I had to get there. There is no other choice in today's business climate. Zero Loss is it!

I always look for a book that is positive, downright informative, and totally worth my precious time. This is that book. I learned important lessons on every page. Every sentence seemed perfectly relevent to my business, my employees, and my future.

We entrepreneurs and business managers want results; that's all that keeps us on top. Reading Mr. Copeland's book brings in the results, in a format that is easy to apply to about any business, if not every business. It is obvious that this author is an expert who has "been there and done that."

For knowledge delivered in an intelligent manner that just makes perfect sense, I absolutely recommend Absolutely Zero Loss.

Seminal Work
Most books that talk about leadership are either practical (about practices) or philosophical (about principles). The author quickly makes the point that focusing on the techniques of others won't work, because every person is unique. In other words, simply doing Arnold Schwarzenegger's workout routine won't lead you to becoming Mr. Olympia, because genetic programming enters the equation. Having said that, the author has bridged the gap by offering self-directed strategies. May is definitely a modern day business philosopher, but has obviously worked with enough individuals that he is able to drill down into the real world methods. Read closely, and you'll see that every concept has an application offered. This is especially noticeable in the final chapter, on ambition, where each character states a future vision that uniquely draws on their talents and intents which is then translated into meta goals, then big projects, and finally ground level strategies. What is fascinating is that although all four aspirations are different, I found myself compelled by parts of each. They are beautifully written, and anyone considering themselves a leader could go to school here on how to paint a vivid picture of the future that is truly inspiring.

If you're a student of philosophy, science, sociology and psychology, you'll see that what he's done brilliantly is to take a basically Platonic/Socratic platform, updated it with modern science (ala Pinker and Calvin et al) and blended it with classical and modern socio-psychological studies (from Tocqueville to Spranger to Seligman). The breadth is actually pretty astounding; he covers issues that could easily consume three books.

To say the least, this is a primarily intellectual treatment of the deepest questions we all face at one time or another.

Required Reading
I liked this book because it made me think about my work and my life. Several times I had to stop, rest the book on my lap, reread a passage, and reflect on the messages and how they applied to me. There is a central question which drives the discussion, and it's a very deep and personal one, one that has everything to do with making a difference in the world. I like the dialogue format, and the book reads almost like a screenplay. The exercises in the back of the book are helpful in getting your arms around the concepts and actually putting them into play in your life. Above all, the book is inspiring!

No Pills or Cheese Here!
My faith in the business writing profession is momentarily restored! I was getting pretty sick of the hundred page superficial big type fables getting churned out by the Blanchards and Johnsons of the world. Absolute Impact is a fable, but it has as much depth as anything I've picked up in the serious literature, history, or biography sections. I found myself agreeing with some of the characters, disagreeing with others. In other words, the book will engage you; it might make you think, or make you mad, but it will wake you up. So if you're an airplane reader, don't buy the book. If you need a one word review, try "inspiring." This book will get criticized for being too hard to read, but in all honesty, it's not. To be fair, May probably goes a little overboard on the vocabulary, but he offers a "strange words" section to help those who may not have done so well on their SAT verbal. In addition, all of the major points are called out in the margins. This is a beautifully laid out book, designed to be referred to again and again. My only real criticism is that I wish it was a hard cover.
