WARNING: Here's Another Credit Repair Rip-Off
"The Complete Guide to Credit Repair" would more accurately be titled: "A Complete Waste of Money."

Of its 128 pages, only the first 14 pages of the book attempt to offer any advice (and very basic advice, at that). The remainder of the book is comprised of the bare text of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (68 pages), a glossary of common real estate terms (14 pages), and three sets of sample dispute letters that are also contained on the enclosed diskette.

For some reason (presumably to waste paper), the authors felt compelled to produce a different set of dispute letters for each of the three major credit bureaus, even though the ONLY difference among these sets is the name and address of the recipient. And, although the authors advise the reader to send those letters via registered mail, return receipt requested, two sets of letters are addressed to post office boxes, where nobody can sign for the letters! (Incredibly, the third set of letters doesn't show ANY address; instead, the address lines are "X"ed out!)

Mortgage Originator Magazine, which publishes the book, ought to know something about the impact of negative credit on a borrower's eligiblity for mortgage financing. While the book offers some insight into the mechanics of conventional loans, however, the authors say NOTHING about the less stringent credit requirements available with federally-insured mortgage loans, an appalling omission!

Moreover, the authors are completely silent about other credit repair options available outside of the provisions of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Nothing is said about any of the other federal consumer protection laws (e.g., the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Truth-in-Lending Act, or the Fair Credit Billing Act). Nor do the authors offer any advice for negotiating with creditors or debt collectors.

While shamelessly purporting to be a "complete guide" offering "comprehensive solutions to credit problems," this book is just a brief introduction to credit repair supplemented by information that is readily available elsewhere. The reader would be better off saving $18.00 and buying "The Fix Your Credit Workbook" by Todd Bierman and David Masten, which provides far more comprehensive information and much sounder advice.

I found more info online for free.
I thought that it would be a little more in-depth. It's very basic and I was not that happy with it. I even found better form letters online for free!

Simple, easy-to-read & to the point
This is a great book if you need or want to clean your credit up immediately. This book is not extremely detailed which can be good or bad. Credit repair is fairly simple that's why I think its a good book. It has very good sample forms & letters, along with basic knowledge of how credit works. It gives you a step-by-step plan of repairing your credit. Anything else would be a bit too much & make credit repair sound more complexed than it really is. This is a great read

Great Author!
This is the third book by Arnold S. Goldstein I have purchased. This book is labeled EZ for a reason, the content is very easy to understand. I would recommend his older book The Guarenteed Credit guide also as it has a little more indepth content.

You might think, as I once did, that a bad credit record is nearly impossible to overcome. But, the fact is there are ways to repair your credit after personal problems have caused you to mess it up or some calamity has made it impossible for you to pay your bills on time or even to pay them at all. This aptly named book takes a methodical and thorough approach, with step-by-step instructions and advice to fix even the worst credit record in the shortest possible time. If you have serious credit problems, you need this book.

This book is all theory- Not worth it!
It is obvious Ms Leonard gets her information from outside sources: i.e. legal reseach, fellow colleague, libraries, other credit repair books. All the new additions is a rehash of old, obsolete credit information. Half of the books consisted of regulations of various sorts to add pages to her book. On chapter 5/11, about removing bad credit, she mentioned bad credit has to stay for 7-10 years as long as it is correct - which is false; any negative information can be removed if the dispute is done correctly. She probably got her information from the credit bureaus themselves. As we know, the credit bureaus wants to brainwash consumers into thinking the no one can legally remove bad credit. On one passage the book said "Even if the credit bureau removes information that a credit bureau had the right to include in your file, it is no doubt only a temporary removal. Most correct information reappears after 30-60 days, when the creditor that first reported the information to the credit bureau re-reports it". This is false, most (98%) of items actually removed never comes back on. This is based on 13 years of credit repair experience. Please delete this passage from your future editions. It is obvious Ms Leonard does not practice what she preach! If she has she would have known that. Also, if she is a practitioner, she would have more practical tips about restoring credit. Instead, she takes credit for publishing other people's ideas! This book is not worth it.

This book is not getting enough Credit!!!
This book was so helpful, I just can't uderstand the bad reviews! Thanks to Credit Repair I've gone from being up to my ears in debt to having near perfect credit! Of course this kind of result isn't going to happen over night, any one who tells you otherwise is lying or doing something illegal. THERE ARE NO LEGAL QUICK FIXES!!! I've tried many different methods to improve my credit but following the advice in this book is the only one that worked for me. It even contains a CD-ROM with pre-made forms and letters that help to make the process as easy and painless as possible. Credit Repair was worth every cent!

Helped Me Too
I used this book and cd, in 1 day my credit score went up after I disputed several items

Worthless!
This book is completely worthless. Any useful information that can be gleaned from this book can be found in about 10 minutes on the Internet. The other information is hopelessly out of date or terrible advice.

The chapter on creating a new credit file is the worst. I'm not an attorney, but I believe doing this intentionally is illegal. It is at least very unethical.

Find another book, search the Internet or consult a knowledgeable attorney. Don't waste your time or money on this travesty.
