Good base information, but...
I think it could go just a bit deeper in depth on how to get started as a rank beginner. Some of us are very new to investing on our own. It seems a bit intimidating at times. Maybe a little more "hand-holding" and explain in VERY simple to understand terms. Overall, I really enjoyed the read. I've loaned it to my brother and we hope to start investing together soon. I highly recommend the book.

Powerful rates of return
I first heard about tax liens from reading Charles Givens excellent book Wealth Without Risk (now More Wealth Without Risk)

Tax liens are a very powerful and safe investment tool. Imagine government guaranteed returns of 18%-50%!

WARNING: Many investors hope you never find out about tax liens. I attended a tax lien auction in Miami county, Fl and also one in Pennsylvania. The attitude is somewhat like a library with a hush and everyone looks on you like a outsider.

I recommend you attend a auction in your area to fully appreciate the value of tax liens. First, read this book and I also recommend More Wealth Without Risk for tax liens and other financial information.

Tax leins are a fantastic way to achieve Wealth Without Risk.

Have to agree with the five star reviewers,
There are some pretty bored and misinformed people posting on this board. Obviously, despite their raging, bashing and claimsof being tax lien investors, their reviews spew out totally unsubstantiated comments, and these people don't know beans about tax liens.

Tax liens are among the safest and most profitable ways to make money. SAFER & MORE profitable than playing the stock market. You can make up to 50% rates of return in some states. One caveat; beware of land in certain areas and research the liens that you are going to buy.

Tax liens are profitable, safe and fun. Disregard the 1 star reviewers on this great investment and this great book. Sure it was written back in the early 90's, but not that much has changed. This isn't like personal finance or tax strategies which change almost constantly.

The 16% Solution is a great way to learn how to invest in tax liens and I recommend it.

Not too inspiring.
Yes there are 150 ideas in this particular book, but I found very few ideas interesting and most ideas too far-fetched for my taste. The book also defines minimal start-up fees ranging from $500-$1,000. Is that minimal? A majority of the qualifications needed to run these ideas require some sort of formal training, so you can't just get up and go. The book also claims that most of these prospective business ideas might be already aquired hobbies...I don't think so. Most of the ideas are far-fetched and truthfully lame, which I'm sorry to say was a big upset. I'm not inspired, just disappointed I have to purchase another book.

Helpful
Katina Jones writes this book in a concise and helpful manner. She includes possibilities and cautions for the over zealous. Expert Advice - comments from a person in the area I'm entering gave reality suggestions from someone who's "been there". Ordered this book yesterday to send as a gift.

Is this a financial bible?
Some good financial pointers with one to many bible quotes in it. I doubt God put us on this earth to take care of acquired material things for him. There must be a much higher purpose. I sure hope so. AC.CHB

No matter how much money you make this book is for you!!!!!!
Whether you make 12,000 or 100,000 dollars this book is for you. She and Bob have all the right ideas for making and staying on a budget. They share about what life was like for them when they were first married. And how they started and stayed on a buget. Their ideas are very sound, and even if you feel that you possbly can't make a budget let alone stay on one. After reading this book I can tell you that it works. They provide the answers to all the questions. And after following the plan that they outlined I can honestly say that it works. I highly recommend this book. It makes a GREAT WEDDING GIFT!!!!

Needed in every company in America
Even the best organizations have good intentions when instituting new plans or policies. Something always seems to go wrong, because of a type of manager called the 160 Degree Deviator. These are people with their own agendas who damage company morale and cause frustration to rise. The reason that they aren't called 180 Degree Deviators is that the author gives the company 20 degrees "credit" for having the right idea.

The author theorizes that some people are just born jerks, or become that way after exposure to other jerks. Such pompous, overbearing people should never be let anywhere near a management position. Devaitors can be of either gender, and can be found anywhere between foreman and senior management. They are preoccupied with superficial things, like the look of a report instead of what's inside. They dominate all conversations with peers and subordinates, and monopolize meetings. They rarely apologize for a mistake or false accusation, especially when it involves someone lower than them on the company totem pole. They recruit spies to feed them the latest gossip about others. Deviators will only hire or promote those who hold them in high esteem. they use a lot of possessive pronouns, like "my people" or "my department," as if a piece of the company is their personal property. In short, 160 Degree Deviators have an exaggerated sense of their own self-importance. They consider themselves the center of the universe, and expect to be treated as such. Sound familiar?

What to do about such people? It's easy to say that so-and-so is a "kook" or is thinking outside the box; tell that to their subordinates or people in other departments. At all times, challenge Deviators to put up or shut up. Meetings should be called for specific purposes with specific attendees; don't let Anyone monopolize them. People who lie or sacrifice others to cover their mistakes should be immediately dismissed. If Manager X is considered "harmless" by senior management, transfer them someplace where they will be harmless, but get them out of that management job.

This book is excellent. A copy is needed in every company in America, Fortune 500 included. The CEO who says "it doesn't happen here" needs to take a closer look at their company. It is highly recommended.

150 Years Of International Harvester
Excellent and informative book! Lots of small pictures of pretty much every tractor and farm implement IH made from their beginning until about 1979. This book also covers war production, refrigeration equipment, and trucks.I didn't find anything on construction equipment. There is a brief mention and a couple of picures of the Cub Cadet original. A must have for any IH library.

15 Questions: More Practice to Help You Ace Your Consulting Case
Published in Paperback by Wetfeet.Com (01 March, 1997)
Authors: Wet Feet Press, Gary Alpert, and Steve Pollock
Amazon base price: $29.95

below average; better guides available
In my opinion, this book was not worth my time to read it or my money to buy it. There was very little in depth information on the consulting industry.

out of date
While this guide may have once been useful, in my opinion it has
become out of date. In my experience consulting firms have recently
dramatically changed the format of case interview questions and more
recent reflection of the new trends in case interviewing can be better
found...

fairly useful
This guide is fairly useful though a bit repetitive. Still it is worth a read. Also recommended is the Vault Guide to the Case Interview.
