An excellent book for new investors of any age!
Although my husband and I are fairly sophisticated investors, the title of this book appealed to us. It's written in an easy to read style, without complicated graphs and charts and without a lot of investment jargon. For us, it was interesting to read how the pros on Wall Street pick their stocks -- to "get into their heads" a little-- by reading the profiles. However, this book is really ideal for the novice investor, because it covers many topics and is a terrific overview. The lessons are short, but we see that as an advantage for someone who is new to investing. If the lessons were too long or too complicated, a new investor might not stick with the book long enough to finish it. There is a lot of information in this book. In fact, we're recommending it to some friends who want to get into the stock market, but have no idea where to begin. They would have to spend months reading to learn what's condensed in this book. The book also helps would-be investors learn about sources of information on the Internet (and other places). We think this is a great first book for anyone who wants to get an overview of investing.

Very good for a beginner.
This book was the first book I read about the stock market and I found it an easy read and it opened up my mind for the stock market. Acctually it gave me a different view. Much more relaxed view if you like. At the same time I found the author repeting himself too often. You will need further reading but this book is a good beginner and it also plays a role as a guide for further reading.

Fantastic book!!
It is funny how different people can have so many conflicting opinions about the same book. The author interviewed some of the most famous and successful investors in the country. You have to be out of your mind not to come away with something useful. The lessons are not obvious, at least to this humble long-term investor. Maybe if you know everything about the stock market, then devising a strategy, creating rules, cutting your losses, holding winners, minimizing risk by using dollar cost averaging, avoiding trading options and futures and 101 other lessons might be common-sense, but not to me.

Bottom line: One of the best books I have read on investing in the stock market.

A worthwhile read
Get this book if you intend to use the Internet to market your business in
any way. It is loaded with marketing ideas and there are enough of them so
that any small business entrepreneur can benefit in some way. There are
lots of examples of people and businesses that have actually done what the
author recommends, and lots of web sites to visit as a follow up. I got
about 6 great ideas out of this book. Two or three would have made it
worthwhile.

Do not order from Elephant Books
I would love to read this book because I heard it was amazing, BUT Elephant Books sent me the wrong book. Now they will not return my phone calls or numerous emails, and they were done in good taste so I do not understand why they would not return my messages. Just wanted you all to know so you do not get shafted like I did. Have a great day!

Helpful for small businesses
This is a nifty book. It givesa wide view of ways that a small business entrepreneur can use the Internet to market successfully. The dot.com craze may be over, but that doesn't mean that the Internet won't continue to be a long-term vital tool in marketing for small business. With this book, any budding or seasoned entrepreneur will gain a learn of get many wokrable strategies.

More comprehensive than similar titles.
If you've ever dreamed of owning your own business but don't want to be tied down to a brick and mortar building, then this is the book for you. Starting an Internet business could not be easier with the help of the information provided. The book starts with interview information from three successful Internet businesses and then follows that with how to get your point across, the various formats for a storefront, required features of the successful storefront, payment options, and levels of e-business. From there it moves to helping determine what is important to you and how to use that to find the right business for you. From there it moves to the profiles of successful businesses. These profiles are complete with how to market the business, startup costs, skills needed, online examples, etc. It finally concludes with information on how to build your site, get it submitted to search engines, e-mail marketing, using links and pretty much just about everything that you need to know in order to get the business up and running.

Susan Sweeney, the owner of an international Internet firm, has produced a very thorough and easy to understand book. Probably the best book available today on starting an Internet business from scratch, it is a highly recommended read.

A Good Read!
..Author Lisa Kanarek does a fabulous job of organizing her ideas into useful categories. It reads as if the author and her editors decided that if the majority of home office workers could not use a secret, it would not make the book. The book's only glaring problem is minor: two tips are identical (numbers 29 and 72: create a Web site). Fortunately, Kanarek followed her own advice (Tip #102 "Always give more than expected"), so readers expecting 101 secrets will not feel shortchanged...our tip is that this book is required reading for anyone working from home.

A useful tool to avoid expensive mistakes
Hiring the wrong person is so incredibly expensive that you need every tool you can find to avoid doing it. This is one of the tools you should have available.

Wayne D. Ford, Ph.D., author of "How to Spot a Liar in a Job Interview" and "How to Spot a Phony Resume" docwifford@msn.com

Essential reading for all employers.
Richard Fein's 101 Hiring Mistakes Employers Make covers the basic mistakes employers make; from not adequately conducting reference checks to relying too much on technology to make decisions. Especially valuable here are the case history examples pointing out just where the hiring process made assumptions without adequate probing.

Great read for anyone involved in hiring!
Richard Fein, who's written a number of helpful books for the career seeker, has proven his versatility with this excellent resource for employers.

I enjoyed reading through the well-organized mistakes to avoid, which describe real-life mistakes... the lessons learned.. and to avoid making them. Fein emphasizes the importance of thorough background checks, provides helpful hints for reducing the time to hire without reducing the quality of candidates, creative ideas for recruiting, remembering your hiring procedures as a good guideline (with the understanding that they can be improved, successfully interviewing candidates, and smoothly transitioning new hires.

This book is also helpful for job seekers in that it shows you the red flags that employers look for!

Just one big ad
I thought this book was good in the first couple of pages, then I started noticing a pattern of the author selling his other products. This is not very informative it loses everything by the time you get into it. Save your money or buy another book.

An Incredible DISAPPOINTMENT
I was really hoping to find information on starting a mail order business and instead found information on subscribing to Mr. Hick's newsletter OR purchasing his kits. The ideas presented were very brief and not enough information to start anything. DO NOT BUY

How to become a good seller
In my opinion the book was useful, except for the end of each chapter (and the end of the book) when Mr. Hicks tries to covince people to buy a book, a kit or a subscription to one of his newsletters. Also most of the time Mr. Hicks impresses people (at least that is what he thinks or wants) with all his fortune and his yacht. If I had read another book, would I have stated that it was useful to me?.
