What a treasure!
Motivation of employees through rewards and recognition is critically important for organizational success. This topic is vital for supervisors, managers, executives, human resource professionals, business owners...the list goes on. Your power in this essential part of business is based on how much you know about what works, what doesn't work, and why. The more examples you can glean about what others are doing, the stronger you will be.

Nelson and Spitzer are internationally known experts in rewards and recognition. They both know their topic extremely well, and that high level of expertise comes out in this book. Readers familiar with the field will think they already have the answers if they have previous books written by these authors. Guess again!

This book is packed with information, insights, tips, ideas, case studies-you name it. Have you ever packed a suitcase so full that it was almost impossible to close it? That's the experience you'll have with this field book. You'll wonder how these gurus ever got this much stuff packed in between those two covers. Just a few pages of reading and you'll already be on information overload!

There are so many features in this publication, I'll probably not be able to name them all. (Do you hear enthusiasm in my review?) Case studies. End of chapter summaries. Good table of contents. Vignettes describing positive-and negative-experiences. Over 40 no-cost ideas. Worksheets. Resources. Training designs. Reminder cards. Comprehensive index. On and on and on. There are at least four separate books in these pages, all jammed into one tremendous resource.

Bob Nelson's "1001 Ways to Reward Employees" has sold over a million copies. This book is even more of a value...especially at the surprisingly modest price. There is no question that this volume will have an impact on readers and the organizations they serve. Even just modest application of the knowledge found in this tool chest will return many more times the investment of the purchase and the time to read all that the authors share.

Highly recommended.

#1002 ¿ Market YOU!
This book has some great tips, but when it comes to marketing your services, nothing replaces a *personal* publicity plan. To position your small business, you have to position YOURSELF. Bottom line is that people have to know who you are, what you stand for, and why they should do business with you.

Lots of great real ideas / examples!
This book is different than any other marketing book. The author's other book explains marketing really well. This book gives more than 1001 examples of how people have really done successful marketing. The book has twenty-five or thirty chapters on every marketing topic you can think of, from the Internet, to postcards, to customer service, to sales, to publicity. In other words, you go to the type of marketing you are interested in and read the examples of what other people have done. Within the first few pages of that topic your head will be filled with many brilliant ideas. Some you can borrow directly. Some you can combine. Some you can adapt.

A Quick Start Tips For the Beginner
"1001 Ways to Market Your Services" is broken down into a number of small chapters dealing with various marketing methods and offers some great ideas on how to get the message out. The author calls upon his own experiences as well as from the exploits of others to demonstrate strategies that really do work. While Mr. Crandall expresses a great amount of enthusiasm for marketing he does draw the line on some practices that may rub the wrong way and cast suspicion upon the integrity of the marketing business. He walks a fine line and his sound advice should be followed to the letter.
This book has good information and is very good for people with limited marketing experience and ideas. It does not give much detail on setting up a marketing campaign. This title translated into Russian is very successful in Moscow.

A fast how-to book on energizing teams... lacks depth
If you are looking to truly turn around your company or department, this is not the book for you. When does this book come in handy? If you are seeking for quick ideas to energize your team, and are short on inspiration: that is where it's a very comprehensive source. But be realistic: true energizing and change is a process that can't be bought with treats or gifts, but rather built through trust and open communication, among other things. If you want to really energize your team, then be ready for a longterm commitment from your part, that will go beyond just getting them perks or giving them awards.

A must-have for managers and HR folks
I'm an HR person myself, and have found this (and the 1001 ways to reward) to be an essential part of my library. Many people want to look through it, borrow it... some have kept it, so this is probably my fifth version of the book that I've bought! Try to put your name all over the book so they don't forget it's yours.

Excellent "toolbox" filled with creative ideas.
1001 ways to Energize Employees is an excellent follow-up and companion to Bob Nelson's first book, 1001 Ways To Reward Employees. The current book is focused more on morale building, and gives 1001 fresh, new ideas for building morale in individuals, teams, and organizations. Bob Nelson knows that the best way to build morale is to reward and recognize performance. These books contain 2002 excellent "tools" which can inspire every manager with creative ideas. A must-read.

Doesn't even deserve 1 star
Don't waste your valuable time with this one. When the suggestions are "Move to a state with lower death taxes" (#969), "don't let your kids watch Saturday morning cartoons" (448), and "recycle your knee-high socks into ankle-length by cutting them" (248), I would venture to guess that most people would not find these "tips" practical. One tip (489) even suggests to invite grandparents to visit often because they'll bring presents for your kids! Almost all of the good tips (there are a few) are common-sense ways to cut expenses like use coupons, buy off-season, etc. Just look at how many people are selling this book "used" to see how helpful it is.

Amazon: You need to give more stars--10 stars!!!!
This excellent book by Jonathan Pond will provide you with 1001 practical ways (that you won't find anywhere else) to reduce expences and to invest or expand your lifestyle.

Please ignore the 1 star reviews. If you haven't already figureed it out, they are all from the same JBQ shill.

I also recommend "The Courage To Be Rich", "The Laws of Money" and "9 Steps to Financial Freedom" by Suze Orman.

Powerful advice that really works.
When I came across this book I was out of work and deeply in debt. Thanks to the tips in "101 ways" I found many ways to dig myself out of debt and into financial freedom.

Great book. Highly recommended.

1001 Ideas to Create Retail Excitement

Very shallow coverage
If you're looking for a book about big time retail advertising then this is not it. But if you are a small business just getting started you could do worse. However most of the things in this book are everyday ideas that most anyone could come up with. Hard to justify the expense of the book when it is so obvious on so many levels. Can't recommend it unless you get it as a gift for Christmas.

Timely Ideas in Falk's Revised Book
Ed Falk's rolodex seemingly never runs out of ideas. While many of them fall in the category of "hey, I remember doing that a few years back and it worked", the revised edition of Falk's book has lots of new ideas, too. He's broadened his coverage of retail outlets and that makes the book even more useful. The suggestions in this book are clearly stated, helpful and in most cases easy to apply. It is also a great stimulator to help bring that germ of an idea the reader has been carrying around in his or her own head to reality.

Want more ideas?
It¡¦s really a great book. The author start with the theme that ¡§the name of the game in retail is ¡V to attract new customers and get old ones to keep coming back.¡¨

Just like what is mentioned in the title of the book, lots of ideas and comprehensive information are explained in the book. The book provided lots of helpful, informative details about how to create retail excitement.

However, different places have a lot of differences, such as the culture, regulations and policy, etc. It is similar to different customers have different needs and wants. I think that it is very important for the marketer to pay special attention to the different aspects of your target customers. So, the first step mentioned by the book about ¡§how to develop information¡¨ is very important. Once the marketer collect information in the specific region through the primary and/or secondary research, they can get more understanding about their customers and the culture or regulations of the regions. Then the marketer can develop their ¡§excitement¡¨ which is tailor-made for the target customers.

So, if you are the retail marketer who would like to get more ideas, or you are the retail marketer who nearly runs out of ideas, you would be highly recommended to have a look at this book.
