Nothing out of the ordinary...
The Best Digital Signal Processing text book ever seen!I am a TA at a University, My class is Digital Signal Processing, So I read many DSP books ever,(except Understanding Digital Signal Processing, which is recommended by many people, but I have no opportunity to read it). Though Oppenheim is classic, it is a bit hard for undergraduate student to understand. With the help of Matlab. it become more easier!
Though this book is not the best one in the field of DSP, but it is the best text book!
I am honoured to be the translator of this book. The Chinese Version will be publised in 2004.
I have to admit that there are still many errors of this book(many are printed errors).

Extraordinary for beginners and regularsOf all the books (reference or text) this book supersedes all of them in both theory and examples. It should be must for beginners. A very preliminary knowledge of MATLAB would immensely help while reading this book. And for those DSP practitioners this book is valuable asset. The power of MATLAB is thoroughly utilized in this volume, and the reader will learn both DSP and MATLAB. This book is welcome change from those dull and monotonous books on DSP usually used now.

Great Practical DSP Book loaded with Matlab examplesI used this book for a first course on DSP. This book is very practical. It is loaded with Matlab algorithms that will make your discrete signal processing simulation development enjoyable and challenging.
The Matlab examples cover just about every thing encountered in DSP development. It covers statistical signal analysis, adaptive filter design, FIR, IIR and other important topics.

Many functions in examples missing in Matlab R12, R13This would be a great book except it needs to be updated for Matlab R12 and (now) R13. Many of the functions referenced in the book (e.g. zplot, freqz) have now in the signal processing toolkit so one really needs to acquire this toolkit to make the book fully useful.
Excellent for review of DSP Mathematics....Great companion book to "Understanding Digital Signal Processors" by Lyons and "Digital Signal Processors" by Hayes. I would recommend this book strictly for a companion book. It doesn't go into in-depth detail or explanation of Laplace, z-transforms, or Fourier Transforms but displays a good foundation for MatLab DSP routines.
Great as a Companion Book!!!I am currently taking a intro to Digital Signal Processing at my university. I find this book is a very good complement to Proakis' Digital Signal Processing book. I have learned a lot about DSP using these two books. the aim of this book is to be a companion book to more traditional DSP books, it tries to be nothing more. In that regard, I believe the book excels. Get it as a supplement/companion to a traditional DSP book and you will learn how to do DSP with MATLAB. Highly recommended!!!

Best of the BestIf you want a really good book to understand DSP using Matlab , there is no other book that even comes close to this. Lucidly written, with plenty of examples, this book brings you the utter joy of learning DSP by using it.
It is really fortunate that DSP has such a good stream of books form the likes of Richard Lyons to the venerable Oppenheim to the practical Proakis.
This is the one book that has really earned its price.
fft transform and filterinf adaptive with dspfree DSP literature filtering with DSP adaptive filtering with DSP Buttrfly Method implemaentation
Excellent to really understand DSP principlesThe only way to really understand DSP is having a book like this at hand. It's plenty of clear explanations of almost every topic in Digital Signal Processing.
In general, this is an OK book as the author did everything he could to make it easy to read and understand. However, it is not the best book for people interested to learn on their own.
