This book is right on the money !!!I have used both of Dr. Mahafza's previous radar books (1. Introduction to Radar Analysis and 2. Radar Systems Analysis and Design Using MATLAB) as reference guides and study aids on a regular basis and realize this third book (that I have added to my Radar Book Reference collection) will get a lot of mileage. I had been looking for a book that provided a start to finish tutorial on radars. This book is right on the money. This book is truly an engineering reference for radar engineers. I have found the MATLAB code easy to understand and have used some of the examples in this book to assist me with my radar tasks. This book discusses topics that are important to all radar engineers such as Clutter Mitigation, Signal Processing, and Target Tracking. I recommend this book to anyone interested in radar and look forward to more quality radar related books by Dr. Mahafza and his associates.

It Could be Better. The book is a good start to MATLAB students but there is a lot of errors in the text. Despite the author's appeal asking everybody to show him the errors, I think it would be better to rewrite the book, mainly because his work could be more useful if he insert a specific chapter about I/O operations, which is, in my opinion, the most dificult thing to do in MATLAB. Examples of I/O operations with several data formats would be useful too.
A good first book for beginnersI am not a full time computer programmer. In spite of my limited programming experience, I was able to follow the lessons in this book. The information is presented in a logical sequence and fully explained and illustrated. As the title suggests, this book is for engineers who need answers for their own use and is not intended to show you how to make fancy illustrations for presentations.
There are two shortcomings that bothered me. One is the lack of a table at the end of each chapter listing the other commands and functions that do almost the same thing as the ones covered in the chapter. This would increase this book's usefulness as a reference. The other problem is the end of each chapter having an illustration of some interesting engineering project or concept. One claimed that Matlab could be used to drastically improve the fuel efficiency of motor vehicles. The other was a half baked political statement to the effect that you would be better off giving irrevocable control of your life over to a group of people who have a history of looking after their own interests first and others second. Of course this suggestion was worded in an appealing style.

Great Book! This is a great text. Easy to read and many good examples illustrated in the book allow you to quickly pick up MATLAB, especially the GUI section. It's very clear and up-to-date. Unlike some other texts just tell you the inefficient Matlab 4.x code for the GUI programing.
*I am a undergraduate engineering student by the way.

Quick "primer"This is a quick reference book (VERY small and thin)for matlab commands. Has come in handy in getting a quick fix to some problems/equations. BUT you have to know what you are looking for already.
Wonderful matlab referenceExcellent text. Contains nice, brief summaries of matlab functionality, with references on where to go to get more verbose explanations. This book is about the size of a postcard. When I need to locate or discover a new function that I'm sure matlab has somewhere, this Primer is usually more effective than the matlab on-line help. Also good for an overview of functionality, an area where Matlab's on-line help is particularly weak. Assumes no knowledge of matlab.
Don't need anything elseIn MATLAB, really the only thing you need is a list of commands, then you can type 'help command' and be done. Sigmon's book is just this. Good enough to carry me through undergrad to first year grad school. Next year I'll need a reference specializing in the controls toolkit, but this Primer will still be glued to my hand whenever I start Matlab. I'm buying one for each of my students.
