I enjoyed the "101 Ways to Have a Great Day @ Work" and was glad to hear there was something that would let me explore these concepts even more. I learned a ton of new things to help me at work and have passed on these ideas in my staff meetings. Well worth the $$!

The third in a series of interactive training game volumes by facilitator and author Gary Kroehnert, 102 Extra Training Games features useful off-shelf structured activities, learning games and instruments in ten categories: icebreakers, teambuilding, communication, presentation skills, energizers,problem-solving, learning, perception, evaluation and self management. Clear, informal and generally useful guidance on facilitating the activities is included. As the bound volume doesn't easily lend itself to high quality reproduction, I found the suggestions on reproducing visuals and handouts less credible. Today, many trainers will want to adapt these to electronic presentation formats or their own house style. For those using OHP, tearaway handouts and visuals would be a useful improvement.

As contributed activities form the bulk of the content, some activities (or variations) will be familar to experienced trainers and learning groups. Nevertheless, I found this volume useful. The informal style and sense of humor offers a refreshing antidote to other off-shelf training resources that take themselves too seriously. A few activities may be inappropriate where people are easily offended. 'Health warnings' are however included in the short trainer's guide for each activity. Let your good judgement be your guide.

Overall-recommended to new and experienced trainers alike who need off-shelf resources in the categories listed above. As with all learning resources, review the content first before you buy.

Just as in the book 101 ways to be Romantic, I found some of the sugestions to be absurd and silly. This atleast, is true for me. There are some things I would not do in 101 years. For the most part, I found many good ideas and I have tried a few and found them to be successful. The ideas that I won't try might be the ones that work great for you. Get this book and if you only find a few good ideas or 101, you will be better off than if you had left this book on the shelf.

This book is so cute and little and just right for my gift baskets and gifts for showers and such. I loved the simplicity of it. It is affordable for us tightwads. Thanks, twins!

Aguanno's work comes timely in this day and age when organizations have forgotten the importance of appreciating their employees' contributions to their success.

I found the following comments by the author as most relevant to my project teams:

1) The crucial aspect of the timing of the rewards to create the proper rampant and to strengthen the morale
2) The strong power of "Thank You" and how this alone could be a great team transformation tool
3) The importance of the customer appreciation comments and notes. My experience showed me that team members truly appreciate this and find it a great way to understand how their work contributes to the overall success of projects
4) The author reminds all of us of the value of the personal touch, as in the use of the handwritten notes. We got too dependent on electronic media that we forgot how to write and personally share our thoughts

I encourage all to use the many insights the author illustrates in this text to make a difference in the life of our employees and of our organizations.

This book is very valuable and practical. OVer and over again when I read this book I thought; "wow, that idea I gotta implement right now". Its very down to earth and doesnt just talk about the stuff, It tells you the nuts and bolt on how to implement it! This book is great and I highly recommend it!
