I bought it becasue I had to....
Many of us ended up with this book on the shelf because it was recommended by the AIMR for the CFA course. This book was so badly edited that it was distracting - figures in tables not matching figures in the text, some calculations just plain wrong, and everything covered at a very superficial level. This had the potential to bridge the gap between a Hull-type presentation and an undergrad-type. Sadly, this book really disappoints.

This book delivers on its title
After studying this book, you will know the technical intricacies of futures, options, and swaps. It has also excellent definitions of all the "Greek" risk measures (Delta, Vega, Gamma, etc...).

The book is well organized. The chapter sequence makes good sense. This is a good book overall.

Comprehensive book on Derivatives
Got many books on derivatives, but Kolb's is my favourite one. He covers the topic in a slightly less quantitative way than Hull does and goes straight to all the different derivatives while avoiding any further explanations like Ito's Lemma etc. I especially liked the part on swaps with many examples like flavoured swaps or equity swaps. Nevertheless, if you're looking for a good software, than I would recommend The Complete Guide to Option Pricing Formulas (build on Excel VBA).

New option value relationships
The main thrust of this book is the development of new and powerful symmetry relationships in the values of options in foreign exchange markets. What makes these relationships really interesting -- and useful -- is that the authors show that they are valid in all markets. For example, no assumptions are needed on the existence of probability distributions. The final symmetries are easily understood and introduced using language from physics. This stuff should be in all books on mathematical finance. Traders, financial professionals, students and academics will find this book useful.

BORING
If you want to waste your money then spend it on Sundaresan.
This book is highly disappointing. If your professor tells you buy it then you can tell him or her to .....
If you want to master fixed income securities, then you only need to purchase one and only one book, namely "Fixed Income Securities: Valuation, Risk Management, and Portfolio Strategies" by Martellini and Priaulet. That's the best book out there.

Disappointing
I found this book to be of marginal usefulness. The writing style is not to the point and at times disorganized. The book does not come with spreadsheets despite all the screenshots in the chapters. What good is that? Additionally, it is quite expensive. There are other much better books out there for the same price.

Much better books out there, Poorly written :(
Only a good book for reference. Difficult to understand author's explaination of analysis of Fixed Income products. Many instances key steps are skipped in problems used for examples. Look for an alternative.

Good book for intermediate level
The book, though terse and short, is brilliant for a quick tour through the fixed income aspects of bonds, swaps and derivative instruments.

I would have liked more detail on FRNs and Swaps with some practical examples of real FRNs with Interest swaps. An area which many books fail to address. Also the book should have put more emphasis on the mark-to-market of these instruments.

Overall, a good supplemental book.

Insane brilliance!
Wow, wow and more wow! This book totally rocks the house! Talk about some solid partial differential equations... this one really socks it to ya! I couldn't put it down. I wouldn't put it down. I couldn't believe that anyone would write a book as wickedly clever, funny, witty and engrossing as this.

I've read all of Feeney's works... and I mean ALL of them. This one is clearly the best... no question. No question at all. If you want to read some great finance... if you're really ready to enjoy the best there is... then you're ready to read Feeney.

Great ready for the read of your life. Get ready to see the world a different way. Get ready to go really, really deep into the financial corners of your mind. Travel to your limits and push past them to where you thought it was impossible to go. Learn about yourself, learn about the world, learn about what it takes to be a financial guru.

Feeney - the great mind of finance bringing us insights to share with the next generation. Bravo!

Brilliant book, the best I've read!
Perhaps the most interesting and compelling finance book I've read in decades. Feeney takes even the most complicated ideas and brings them down to levels that even I could understand. Very well written, insightful and full of telling comments on the markets from one of its true masters. I highly, highly reccomend this book to anyone even remotely interested in the world of finance. I, and all of my colleagues who have read the book, can hardly wait for the sequel... sure to be as fabulous as this version. Two Thumbs Up!

A good introduction to financial derivatives
This book is useful for someone looking to either learn about or brush up on the financial derivatives markets
