In 1971 I was a long-haired hippie, completely adrift and quite lost. One day in my university bookstore a saw a copy of "How to Stop Worrying," and I picked it up, partially out of curiosity and partially out of amusement. I mean what could this square looking guy with the short hair tell me about life? I'm glad I did pick it up!

One little piece of advice "you can conquer worry by getting busy doing something constructive," helped me graduate, and has helped me immeasurably throughout my life. Whenever I feel the weasels closing in, I look around for something that is needed or wanted and I get busy.

That book led me to read "How to Win Friends," which also enriched my life. It has been said that the quality of our life is the quality of our relationships, and this book will quite frankly help you get along better with people. And who wouldn't want that? Sure the techniques can be used to control and manipulate others, and sell used cars. But the advice can also be used to enjoy the company of others and feel better about yourself as you get along better with them.

By "making the other person feel important" be it a little kid in a stroller, my boss, my wife, I feel I've been able to make a much more positive impact in this world. Life has been a lot more fun! I then went on to take the Course.

Get this incredible book and read it over and over. You will definitely find something in it that will change your life for the better. Dale Carnegie was more than just a motivational writer for salespeople, in my opinion he was a saint.

I have read both of these books seperately. Each has molded my life in different ways. I still use the techniques in "How to Stop Worrying and Start Living" whenever I am in a difficult situation. And although there are differences in society now than when the books were first written, I find that an honest smile and genuine interest in someone else has served me well, as suggested in "How to Win Friends, and Influence People". These books have helped me learn to enjoy life to its fullest.

This book was written in the early 1900s and still is very effective today. I found this book to be essentially "priceless". Whatever I describe here would not do justice to what this book deserves.

Believe the other reviews, I bought this book based on them and am very glad I did. Very easy to read, very long but something you do not want to put down.

There appears to be a dichotomy here between reviewers who have gone to the seminars vs those just relying on the book to fix their credit. What's the point of the seminar if you've already read the book? Or the purpose of buying the book if you've already attended the seminar? The claims coming out of the seminar participants seem wild. Besides, no one should approach bankruptcy without full knowledge of the new laws pending in Congress. As another reviewer pointed out, things have changed in the past 10 years. Having a valid bankruptcy removed prematurely from credit, as another reviewer claimed they did with Steve's help, is extremely illegal if the purpose is to obtain credit fraudulently. I wonder if Steve takes personal checks to repair credit at the seminar -- or whether he requires all cash from the recently bankrupt?

I am in no way affiliated with Stephen Snydor and can offer an objective opinion. If you are contemplating bankruptcy or are struggling to recover, buy this book! It's a formula that works, what else do you need? Other reviews mentioned I could get the info for free at a library. You won't find most of this at the library...but I also think my time is worth more than [the price] an hour in research...so buying a book with all the info I need in one place is well worth the expenditure to me. I had the priviledge of attending one of Stephen's seminars so I was further motivated to buy the book. Stephen is for real. He's "been there and done that", learned to break the rules and legally color outside of the lines and will help you on your road to recovery..financially, mentally and for some, even spiritually. He'll stop you from making the major mistakes almost everyone makes after filing bankruptcy (you wouldn't guess what they are!). Yes, you can buy a car at a decent interest rate. (Do you know where to go?) Yes, you can buy a home (you do not have to wait 7 years...he shows you the fast track). He recommends terrific outside services. I'm about to apply for a secured credit card, but cannot say enough about the credit repair service he recommends. My attorney warned me off but I did it anyway by Stephen's advice and it works! Every 60 days negative credit is being erased from my report. It's unbelievable to watch.

Yes, you can thrive after Bankruptcy if you know what to do. Stephen hands you the formula that makes it much easier.

I read the review by ebay_princess. Obviously she didn't truly read this wonderful book. Mr. Snyder does not talk down to women. Instead, he encourages husbands to listen to their wives and their "sixth sense." Each chapter is a step to be learned in the recovery process, so no - there is not a graph showing the steps to take. There's way too much information to consider to print it in such a way. There's many ways to establish credit. This book is for people who want to learn the RIGHT way to do it. Mr. Snyder's examples of his previous thinking (that Ford sucks) is written in a humerous way that tells us all to "build a bridge and get over it" if we want to do this the RIGHT way. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to reestablish their credit, whether bankrupt or not.

I have used Nolo Press books in the past and found them extremely helpful, detailed and precise. So, I was excited to find this title which sounded like it was exactly what I was looking for. And it is just as good as any of the other Nolo Press titles I have seen, so I was very disappointed to find this statement on page 2 of the introduction..."If you have any non-owner employers in your business, this book is not for you." It would have been more helpful if the sample pages had included the introduction, which clearly lays out the intended audience and use of this book. That said, I recommend this to other self-employed people because every option is clearly laid out for your consideration, along with good instructions for taking action on your decisions. It could be called "Retirement Plans for Not-So-Dummies."
