The Biotech Entrepreneur' s Glossary is a truly useful book for entrepreneurs and others dealing in biotech. It includes a lot of useful terms in multiple subjects relating to biotech business and operations. As an engineer, I find the biochemistry terms and list of acronyms to be especially helpful.

"The Biotech Entrepreneur's Glossary" is truly the Rosetta Stone of biotech venture capital, providing complete definitions of both technical and business terminology. The book also 8 appendices that cover frequent abbreviations and provide lists of biotech recruiters and VC firms. As an entrepreneur, I have found my copy to be tremendously useful, and would recommend this valuable resource to anyone involved in the field.

The second edition of The Biotech Entrepreneur's Glossary, which was published earlier this year, has been expanded to include more biotechnology, computer and business terms. I was pleased to note that there are more US and EU VCs listed in the appendix and that many had web site addresses were included as well as e-mail addresses and telephone numbers. Also, the appendix containing biotech recruiters was expanded. This is the first crossover glossary for biotech and business terms I have seen. It will clearly assist entrepreneur's, biotechnologists, and others who wish to have a single source for biotech, business, patent and IS terminology. Every start-up requires tools to help make it successful; this glossary is one of them.

Jim's book offers extrordinary insights and research. He has delved deep into the complex psychie of the corporate strategic misfires. Read it and see why he is asked to speak to many organizations yearly on change and managment. Pay attention to the parts about Kodak and Microsoft. Your orgainzation may not be in the technology industry but this means you need to read this book more. From volunteer organizations to small start-ups this book has practical advice. We apply it.

In Blindsided, change expert Jim Harris discusses the startling way some major companies got "blindsided" - caught with their antenna down by fast-moving technological changes that undermined their businesses. He fills you in on how change works, and works quickly. Then, as if to make you feel better, he offers practical techniques that superior companies use to avoid being walloped. Harris tells you (consider this a warning) what to do to deal with change. Generally, this is a top-notch, straightforward book, although some corporate histories and guideposts on recognizing change may sound like retreads of other material. Still, Harris provides a guidebook for heeding and handling change. Just ask yourself the questions at the end of each chapter to find out if you need this heads up strategy check. We from getAbstract suggest that diagnostic dialog to business strategists and executives. Just keep looking behind you while you are reading - someone, or something, may be gaining on you.

This book is a good book covering the Basics of Birmans but begins to fall short when talking about breeding and the genetics of Birman cats. I love the care/feeding and general information of the book. A true book about breeding however should include pedigrees, history and foundation cats, and include medical information as well. My wife and I have bred Birmans for 11 years and as such have to consider genetic questions whenever we talk about breeding/aquiring another birman. The book also should include online information available for Birmans which is extensive.
